I was raised to have faith but my lessons were loose, they were short

When I tried to survive and be true to the words that were spoke
Must've cut more ties than I ever would wish or would hope

So don't bless my soul when I'm in need of air
It was a long old twist and turn but it got us there
Don't carry my bags down the long lonely street
I can go it alone, just get me up onto my feet.

I was raised to take care and don't dare to be sparing of trust
Sometimes leading the way is a wish but it's rarely a must
I should apologise and warn you of the space that I light
So naive is this space even wrongs are mistaken for rights
