Rebirth Trough Destruction started in the summer of 2004 on a random drunken jam. On the drums was Amber, guitars, Joe. The two of them were playing in a band called Dark Skys, and at the time Amber played the bass. She hopped on the drum kit that practice and it was decided later that night. Joe told her “If you buy a kit we’re gonna do our own band” Later that summer Tristan’s vocals were summoned. Tristan and Joe worked together managing a music store and became friends through the use of alcohol, their desire for power, and an eclectic view of life. RTD than went through a series of bass try-outs and stumbled upon Joey. That winter they moved into the Prior Street rehearsal studio and began writing songs and training their livers. After writing seven songs and multiple exhausting recording sessions, RTD began to focus on there expertise in jamming. In the Prior street days RTD was well know for there over the top uncontrollable drinking and partying habits. Most bands loved to jam and party with them; in addition they were well respected musicians and in Minnesota established the sub-genre of “Groove Metal”
The spring of 2005 was not so fortunate, Tristan stopped showing up to practice and no longer returned phone calls. A couple months passed, Amber and Joe tried to keep it together but because of personal issues between the two of them RTD disbanded. Amber continued to play with other musicians as Joe just went on to full-time binge drinking and partying. Later that year Tristan and Joe rekindled their friendship. In that time Joe tried out several drummers but none of them were able to perform at the level that was expected for the drummer of RTD.
September of 2007 proved to be a better time, almost a year went by since a note was sung and a guitar picked up. Joe just finished rehab and was starting to get antsy. Tristan and Joe had material they wanted to bring to a band. Joe was extremely intoxicated and ran into friend and former employee Bjorn who also played drums. They exchanged numbers, and later jammed. The night they got together they played for multiple hours straight, Joe was half-way through a bottle of Rumplemintz and in walks guitarist Franco. They were in a 5 x 8 room with two half-stacks and a full kit. The chemistry between Bjorn and Franco was natural and this was one of the few guitarists Joe was able to vibe with.
With in a month Tristan and Joe were able to verify that Bjorn and Franko were RTD material, a little young, but definitely some of the best musicians around. They were asked to join RTD, and the offer was accepted. In just another short month the new line up was in a rehearsal space, started recording, and was to play a show that Halloween. RTD later picked up a bass player, Brandon; he was on old friend of Tristan’s and had played with RTD for a short time in the past. With that line-up, RTD began playing shows relentlessly; they quickly gained the respect of club owners, other local bands, and fans. They also have shared the stage with national recording artists such as Nonpoint and Otep. In July of 2008 the band broke up due to alcohol abuse and personal differences; these issues could not be worked out.
Now RTD has risen from the ashes with new members and will release their album in the fall of 2010. New members include Mike on bass and John on the skins. The new additions have alot to offer RTD and YOU the RTD coalition!! Keep those drinking shoes on and ready to work!
