"Stone In Love" off of Journey's "Escape" album. Ross Valory was the bass player.

I was never a big Journey fan but certainly covered more that a couple of their songs in different cover bands I was in during the 80's and beyond.

While they were a very successful band commercially, some of their stuff almost bordered on being progressive. The thing I really like about this song is the bass line during the outro section which begins near the halfway point of the song. It's one of those bass lines that when I hear it I wonder to myself, "How did he ever come up with this?" I also remember, when learning it, having difficulty keeping the higher strings from ringing out while keeping the low G pumping.

Also, Ross Valory was the reason I traded my black P-Bass in for a Peavey T-40 after seeing a picture of him playing one on the inner sleeve of one of their albums. It was the one with "Don't Stop Believing" on it. I thought he had an awesome sound on that album and I thought for sure I'd have it too if I had the same bass he did. That thing was so heavy.
