On Sunday, October 13, SOB's (Sounds of Brazil) will host the much anticipated live debut of the six-piece Afro-Cuban Jazz sensation, Dayramir Gonzalez and his band, Habana EnTrance, featuring violinist Tatiana Ferrer.
Musical director, and innovative Cuban Jazz singer, pianist, and composer, Dayramir Gonzalez has lead Habana EnTrance to three Cubadisco awards (equivalent to US Grammys) and is currently setting the Latin Jazz world on fire in America. Mr. Gonzalez was the first Cuban national to be granted a full presidential scholarship at the esteemed Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, graduating one year ahead of time, with honors (Woody Shaw scholarship) and with two majors. Gonzalez formed Habana EnTrance in 2004, honing his craft and perfecting his own singular style. With EnTrance, Gonzalez performed at the Zaragoza Jazz Festival in Spain, which also featured heroes Chucho and his father Bebo Valdez, Dominican pianist Michel Camilo, jazz bass legend Ron Carter, Brazilian pianist Eliane Elias, American Harry Connick Jr., and other notables.
Tatiana Ferrer, founder of String Bembe, is a violinist, composer, and arranger with a contemporary perspective of integrating musical elements from genres that include Afro-Cuban, American jazz, traditional Filipino and European classical. Influenced by a wide range of genres that includes jazz, Brazilian, salsa, and Russian popular, Tatiana has developed a playing style and compositional approach that reflects her diverse musical upbringing.
While studying Contemporary Writing and Production and Music Business and Management at Berklee College of Music, Tatiana had the opportunity to perform with Patrice Rushen and study alongside violinist and bassist, Rob Thomas, and violinist Matt Glaser. Since graduating, Tatiana has performed throughout Boston and Los Angeles and has produced a variety of music from R&B pop to contemporary classical.
