DOG BUS is two brothers; Jules Mkools (19) & Jakey Mkspankey (12). Proving that age doesn't matter, the two formed the band in 2006 and began recording music at home in Waterloo, Ontario. Both of the brothers are multi-talented instrumentalists and songwriters. Inspired by a love of old school hip-hop and rock that they grew up with, Jules and Jakey chose to record their hip-hop material for their first, self-titled record. DOG BUS were helped with their first foray into the recording process by producer/musician and Canadian music industry veteran, Danny Michel. Lyrically, they are hilarious pranksters with attitude. The album is a blend of old school fat drum sounds and dance banger synth riffs with vocal hooks that will be stuck in your head long after the songs are done playing. DOG BUS is attracting a diverse audience of music fans, most notably won over after witnessing one of their irresistible live performances. The shows are high energy romps featuring a massive, smoke blasting robot and a backing band made up of 2 twin girls. DOG BUS had their debut 'live' performance at the North by Northeast music festival in the summer of 2008, and the boys have been playing shows ever since, playing a showcase for Canadian Music Week and Pop Montreal. They have played live with Sean Kingston, Down With Webster, Stereos, Marianas Trench, Hawksley Workman, Danny Michel, and Shad among others, and even had their robot stolen by The Tokyo Police Club! DOG BUS have also found huge support with MuchMusic who hired them to lend their talent writing and performing "SNL Digital Short" type videos and songs for their popular show "MOD". They gained a huge (and growing) fan base across Canada after being featured recently on an episode of Much Music's hit show "Disband", spiking interest and garnering near perfect reviews from industry celebs such as Greg Nori (Treble Charger, Hedley, Sum 41), Mark Spicoluk (Underground Operations; Lights, Andrew W.K.) and Chase Parsons (Chris Smith Management; Nelly Furtado, Saukrates) with their infectious rhymes and energetic live skills. They've release one official music video for their song "Robot" & have gained hundreds of thousands of views online.
