DESCRIPTION:
The Indianapolis Youth Chorale visited New York City on a tour from June 20 - 24, 2012. On Friday, June 22nd, they had a workshop at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Studio with Broadway star Dan'yelle Williamson, who taught them the choreography that goes with the song "Steal Your Rock and Roll," which the choir had already learned. It was a fantastic opportunity for IYC to learn from a professional and to get a glimpse of what it's like to perform in a Broadway show. Many thanks to Dan'yelle for spending time with IYC and for inspiring the singers. It was a bonus that at the performance of "Memphis" that evening, IYC got to see Dan'yelle in the lead role of Felicia, which they had not expected. She was fabulous and brought down the house! This video is IYC singing "Steal Your Rock and Roll" for Dan'yelle at the end of the workshop. Soloists include Evan Duff, Sydera Theobald, Hannah Naddy, Alexis Unger, and Michael Rueff.
