Today’s music scene is obsessed with redundant sounding raps, so the West Point born Jackson, Mississippi native Rob Gold did things different, and by all standards, the fans love it. The alliance between the rapper from the sipp and hip-hop formed when TRE 8 (formerly of No Limit Records) gave him the opportunity to appear on several of his independent releases. Being under the tutelage of rapper/producer TRE 8 taught the young lad about performance and the nature of the business.

Rob’s surging success and talent caught the eyes and ears of CTE’s hit producer T.A. and Grand Hustle’s beat maestro Khao. The grimy rap aesthetics of Rob Gold, can be attributed to rappers such as UGK, Eightball and MJG who influenced him during his younger years growing up listening to rap. “I knew I could do this when I first heard Outkast because they looked and talked like us,” he states.

“I was stationed in New Orleans while in the Navy when I decided to put everything behind my career in the music industry,” states the upstart rapper. “I knew I had to do something to get a foot in the door and everyone needs a good engineer. I decided to go to school for audio engineering which took me to Houston, which is where I hooked up with T.A. through a internship at Phat Trax studio,” he continues.

The undeniable talent of the Mississippi-born native is further showcased on the radio-friendly single and club banger Summer Girl and the heat-seeking banger, I’m Gone featuring the conventional R&B hook from Reggie Jamz. The self-described visionary puts the world on notice on I’m Here Now and the Khao (Grand Hustle Records) produced Why U So Mad track.

With the internet already buzzing and the hype generated already about his forthcoming mixtape, the CEO of Full Blown LLC and artist on Country Boy Records is gearing up to take his intricate word play and southern swagger nationwide.

“Musically, I have my own style and I do not try to sound like I’m from anywhere but Mississippi. I’m one of the few artists that stay Mississippi all the time,” says the rapper when asked what separates him from the plethora of rappers emerging from his hometown.

Rob Gold latest offering pairs him with legendary (Mixtape DJ) DJ Scream, for the release of The Midas Touch from Scream’s famed Heavy in the Streets series, which is a prelude to the self titled album Rob Gold.

Never one to let past mishaps to determine his future, the spitfire lyricist represents a departure from the music of those who just glorify the streets and do not offer a cautionary tale to the youth of today. “Don’t listen to music and try to live that life. I actually lived that life and found myself in situations I did not want to be in,” he says.

With few rappers achieving recognition beyond their respective hometowns, Rob Gold realizes the importance of networking with those who are in the know and creating a global impact for his music in which he offers the following advice, “see who the movers and shakers in your area, go to them for advice and you will be surprise how many of them are willing to share and impart their knowledge to you.”
