DESCRIPTION:
Alabama Music Office.com goes to Jo Jo's in Homewood, Alabama to attend a performance by Rick Carter.
Rick Carter lives in Birmingham Alabama. He is a Recipient of the BAMA Lifetime Achievement Award and has been in the music business for over forty years.
Rick started playing professionally at the tender age of 13! In the 1970’s and 80’s, his band Telluride was a prime example of what a successful band should be. Touring, endorsements, hits and a huge fan base launched Rick into the national music scene.
In the early 90’s he headed up his Loveland Orchestra, recording critically acclaimed albums, and touring nationally with Bob Dylan and many other acts. All the while he did what he does best…write great songs.
He then co-founded another extremely successful national touring band, Rollin’ In the Hay. This just provided Rick with a whole new genre to write about…bluegrass, jam band, and alt-americana. 15 years and counting, the Hay continues to tour and feature some of his finest tunes. Not one to get too settled in, Rick formed Frankie Velvet and the Mighty Veltones, a Rockabilly/Western Swing band that excites and enthralls audiences. More songs, and more great fans.
That brings us to the Rick Carter and The League of Legendary Artists. (LOLA) Combining his love for R&B, Soul, and Rock, Rick feels he needs to “showcase some of the best musical material and musicians the southeast can offer, and bring it to the fans”. With an arsenal of talent, this should be one of Rick’s finest musical projects yet.
Rick Carter plays solo shows all over the South when he has a night off from all his other projects.
