I was but a speck
A blink of an eye
Dwarfed by the colossus of time
A barely-there tourist
Along for the ride
In a cradle of infinite sky
I feared our knowledge and grace
Would leave hardly a trace
We are so small you can't see us at all
In the vastness of unbounded space

Wise men have seen we're not meager at all
We're part of a profound machine
Elements traveling billions of years
To rest in the truths of our dreams
And maybe the menacing dark
Was the gift of a sun's ancient spark
We are so small you can't see us at all
But we're born from the heart of a star

So now we long to take to the sky
And traverse the reaches of space
Returning our bodies back to the source
That lent them to this delicate place
We'll ask the forces unknown
Are we out here all alone?
And they'll say
"You are so small we can't see you at all
But we love you
Come on back home"
