DESCRIPTION:
As he wrapped up recording 'When You Wish Upon a Star', his 2016 album of Hollywood music themes, Bill Frisell received a unique offer to meet some of his heroes, the legends who performed on the original motion picture soundtracks. A date was set, a Southern California venue was chosen and Bill invited the Fretboard Journal magazine to come for the ride.

In this video, Frisell meets session greats Bob Bain, Dick Nash, Dennis Budimir, Tim May, Phil Teele, Cip Cipriano and Mitch Holder for the first time. For a few hours, the group exchanged music anecdotes, guitar tales and war stories that only working musicians can relate to. We then listened to a rough cut from When You Wish Upon a Star. Frisell was floored that many of the artists, including Budimir and Nash, were fans of his own recordings. “They’re heavy, heavy amazing musicians…” he tells us.
