22. 4YOL_001 The Home Recordist Vol 3 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 10, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
(The bass distortion on this track seems so great it shouldn't be on the internet. Decided against deleting it just to be completist. Added 2018.)

This is one of eleven tracks comprising Volume Three of the Selected Edits Of A Home Recordist.

All the tracks in this volume were recorded between April 2015 and April 2016 after I was asked what I was doing with myself these days. And I said I was doing a lot of practicing with my synths. My friend said why didn't I record the practising. Which seemed like an interesting idea. Only I can't just record a practice. A practice is just for now. I record to listen again.

I usually reckon it takes a day to set up the kit, a day to work out what's going on and a day to record. Wish I could remember the set-up for each of these tracks but I don't - except for the first track in this volume: 21_4YOL_000 which is a synth solo using an Arturia Microbrute, a Korg SQ1 and an echo pedal - about a week after I got them - equipment used on the other tracks include an old G3 Macintosh running Algorithmic Composer's Toolbox, various midi apps, a Korg MS20, a Korg MS2000, and effects - not necessarily all at once.

This stuff might appeal if you prefer your electronic music to be sequenced, modulated, filtered, mixed and echoed live with a heavy hand on the resonance.
