This March sees the release of Sub_Urban's second release, 'Too Hot' by Campaner. Comprising three original cuts from the Spanish producer.
The Sub_Urban imprint was launched in 2013, with label-head Guri's 'So Good' EP, picking up support from MANIK, Andre Crom, Alexis Raphael and Tom Budden, and the title track opened John Digweed's first Transitions radio show for the year. Here Guri welcomes fellow Spaniard, Campaner, onto the roster here, the Mallorca-based producer delivers fresh, forward-thinking electronic music full of subtle intricacies and diverse melodies.
Title track, 'Too Hot' opens the release here, an infectious vocal-house track, with its synthetic bass-line, cottony and well pronounced setting the tone of the track while subtly meandering around the flourishing beats.
Next up is 'I'm Rebel', where Campier veers into electronica territory. His insistence to let the martial and illustrious bass set the rhythmic evolution of the track, takes leadership away from the usual dictator drum, allowing it to shine and shimmer with subtle nuances creeping in and out of the groove.
Finally to close the release, 'Thirteen' is offered up, dropping the tempo slightly and embracing 80's electro influences, with vocoded vocal licks, fluttering arp-lines and dark melodics.
This is another outstanding release from Sub_Urban and a sign of exciting times to come for the label. Campaner's 'Too Hot' EP is out on Sub_Urban 12th March 2013.
