Rhythm and Blues is a musical marketing term coined in the United States in the late 1940’s; defined as a popular music genre combining jazz, gospel, and blues influences. The Acronym for this innovative music genre is R&B, which is defined today as a style of African American music originating from the 1940’s and later reborn after the demise of Disco in the 1980’s. This reborn version of R&B combines elements of soul, funk; dance and from 1986 on to today, incorporated elements of hip hop. The abbreviation is almost always used instead of the full rhythm and blues term throughout the world; however in the greater bay area of California, R&B is an abbreviation for not a music genre but an artist determined to re-invent it in a new image. A combination of music from the soul and experiences from the very trials and tribulations that he is determined to make you feel with every note that comes from his vocal chords.
