Robert Calvin Bland from Rosemark, Tennessee is no stranger to the Northern-Rare Soul scene despite being world renowned as a Blues master. Bland is sometimes referred to as "The Lion of the Blues" for his unique and distinctive, raw, growling voice, even inspiring Little Milton Campbell. "Shoes" was also on Bland's 1967 album "A Touch of the Blues". Some of the tracks are thought to be recorded in Chicago or even have Detroit connections. "...uptempo tracks such as `Shoes` and `Yum Yum Tree` were recorded in Chicago, the former late Nov - early Dec '66 and the latter produced by Andre Williams on 28th Feb '69." Keith Rylatt
