Power started in 1993. Simone and Liam, well known DJs on the House scene, wanted a place to experiment and play new sounds.
On Wednesday nights 800 die hard party people, travelied hundreds of kilometers to mingle with a mix of urban arty and fashion types.
The venue was a the basement of a 15th century palace. The atmosphere intense and exciting. It was dark. Dark corridors, small bars, everybody had their favorite place. There were speakers all around, people danced everywhere. Tiered levels descended towards an illuminated, Saturday Night Fever-like dance floor. The sound system was powerful and warm with bone-shaking base.
The music started with abstract soundscapes and slow beats, building into an estatic party at 4 in the morning.
Liam and Simone alternated, playing 20 or 40 mins each, or a record each. POWER finished in 1995 when the venue closed down.
