The randomize feature in Massive is something that most people either don't know about or do and never use. If you fall into the latter category, I don't necessarily blame you. The randomize feature in Massive will typically create very chaotic results unless you know how to use it properly.

If you turn on every parameter and keep the % turned up to 30% or higher, you will most likely never get musical results. However, if you go through the options that are afforded to you and decide what will help make a sound different and better, you can get usable results.

In this video, I needed to use the randomize feature in Massive to help make my overall sound wider. The human ear can't differentiate between the same sound panned left and right. This is the reason why stereo imaging is such a critical step in mixing music. So in theory, I could use the randomize feature in Massive to introduce subtle changes to either the left or right source and Voila!

To do this, I chose to randomize the "type" of the oscillators which just means the wavetables. After turning down the % in the Oscillator box all I had to do was click RANDOM a couple times until I got something I liked. It can be that easy.
