Various Interviews by Ram Dass on Suffering. We mask our suffering in our culture, so we must look beyond the masks we wear. We have learned to show a lack of vulnerability. Our vulnerability is the gateway or the door. We are called upon to communicate with others from that authentic place. We see that we are capable of suffering with our world. Out of our interdependence, compassion arises. We turn to addictions to avoid our compassionate hearts. We fear other peoples' suffering because we fear our own suffering. It is a matter of coming to terms with our own suffering. When you suffer with the grain, it is like birthing pains, something is being born. We need to be able to grieve for each other.
