Slow on the Draw by Rachel Roberts - Video

DESCRIPTION:
Sorry about the TV backdrop (wasn't looking at it, ha), but this was recorded in San Raphael last week on April 13, 2012. "Slow on the Draw" is from my first album "Ripe n' Juicy." It is one of my favorites I've written. This song eludes (or escapes) exact meaning through winsome words, and alludes through a bluesy, sexy melody the mind's perception of what is real and what is not. The metaphor, "Slow on the Draw," could conjure images of a quickdraw, pulling the trigger before someone else (physical or mental, real or imaginary, playful or harmful). The speaker in this song could be a Siren in a dream, a lover that is taking the preemptive strike, or innuendo otherwise. We can deceive ourselves, deceive others, and be deceived of the truth. Do we play the game, stay ahead of the game, or pretend there is no game?

Baby, you've been tripping,
on airs of slight dispersion.
Dripping wet, you've been sleeping,
dream on dreamer and tell me your version
of greatness.
All bent out of shape,
you just can't handle the weight.
It's a shame, it's a shame,
you had to wake up and now it's too late.

A little slow on the draw, Mister,
Slow on the draw.
I saw you move your hand,
and I shot you through the heart,
a little deeper.
I saw you move your hand,
and I shot you through the heart,
a little deeper.

Shake, shake it off,
you don't need this illusion,
mistaken.
Suck, suck it in,
you can take it,
your heart isn't breaking.

A little slow on the draw, Mister,
Slow on the draw.
I saw you move your hand,
and I shot you through the heart,
a little deeper.
I saw you move your hand,
and I shot you through the heart,
a little deeper.

Get down on your knees,
and mock death in style.
Lay your body next to mine,
and return to your visions...

A little slow on the draw, Mister,
Slow on the draw.
I saw you move your hand,
and I shot you through the heart,
a little deeper.
I saw you move your hand,
and I shot you through the heart,
a little deeper.

Deep, deep, deeper,
deep, deep, deeper,
deep, deep, deeper...
