DESCRIPTION:
Taking their name from a little known yet brilliant song by shoe gazing band Swervedriver, Psyflyer are a psychedelic/grunge/funk band that started out around the same time as other Worcester bands such as Meteor Street, Toxic Pijin & Fatboysarehardertokidnap. They started off gigin at the aural pleasure promotions/tea break gigs put on every Sunday at TJ's pub {r.i.p} in the town centre. In my opinion they have always been one of the tightest units in the town and always seem to play with energy, enthusiasm, vigour and above all else really really loud. Fronted by Jas a strange Muppet like character with a short term memory yet an amazing wah wah lead funk/shoe gazing style on guitar and vocals, augmented by the talented fingers of funk/jazz bassist Rob, but the real power of the band is of course the enigmatic Death on drums and on this rare occasion- vocals check out that ridiculous drum fill before the second chorus of this one.. They describe themselves as a chimera monster of styles which I think is fair enough as nothing else really sounds like them.. More Psyflyer to follow..
