DESCRIPTION:
All Together Separate was formed at California Baptist University in the late 1990s, and first began playing at student conferences and retreats. They first were Praise House, but later changed their name to All Together Separate, in part, due to another band, a Christian techno group, with the same name. They signed with Ardent Records, and in 1999 released their self-titled, first album . The release was nominated for a Dove Award for Best Rock Album in 2000.

Guitarist Andrew Shirley became a touring member of Switchfoot in 2003, and a full member of the band subsequently.
