Satriani Master Class - Video

DESCRIPTION:
From the Brisbane Master Class evening, this was the first song I heard by Joe Satriani by one of my friends band Vaboose in high school, so for old times sake took this bad iPhone movie.

I was happy to hear that he was not a pretentious wanker and had some words of wisdom to share with the audience, particularly with those difficult generic questions on how to get faster etc, he shared his own philosophy with music and life in general and it was just as enjoyable to listen to him talk as it was to see his play some if his old classics. The stand outs were Satch Boogie, Flying in a blue dream, and summer song. The best piece of advice he gave was in regards to with progressing where he replied "Play all the scales over a drone note (he used 'E' as an example) listen to how all the different modes sound, think about how the audience will respond and what kind of sound it makes, make an opinion on those sounds and this is what will be your own style". Another cool comment he made was from question time where one question stated will who is the next Hendrix and Joe's response was "There will only ever be one of anyone, there will never be another Hendrix, there will never be another Mozart, Jimmy Page, Allan Holdsworth, Beethoven (a few other musical genius) and there will only be one Joe Satriani.

I agree.

Joe Satriani was humble and cool.
