Mic Shootout: NEAT Worker Bee vs BLUE Spark on Acoustic Guitar - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jun 23, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
Comparison video of a NEAT Worker Bee condenser microphone vs BLUE Spark condenser microphone on Acoustic Guitar. Both mics were about 6" away pointed where the neck meets the body on the acoustic guitar. No EQ, Filters, or Compression were used. These are the raw tracks recorded as is.

Note: It is strongly recommended to listen to this with good studio quality headphones or speaker monitors. This two mics are at the same price point ($199 US).

These two mics sound almost identical. Their frequency response graph are the same but their are some differences in components.

To help you hear the difference, listen for the clarity/articulation of the two mics. The Worker Bee seems to have slightly more clarity than the Spark. The worker bee also seems to have a little bit thicker low end, a little bit more body. These are very, very slight differences.

On the tech side, The worker bee is a transformer-less FET condenser microphone that doesn't have a true LDC (Large Diaphragm Capsule). It has a 24mm electret capsule. To be exact, the manual says: Transducer Type: Fixed-charge back plate, permanently-polarized 24 mm diameter condenser capsule.

The Blue Spark is also a transformer-less FET condenser microphone that uses an edge-terminated true condenser capsule with a 23mm diaphragm (25mm capsule).
