Stacked Plywood drum kit - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 06, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
Have wanted to try this for 20 years. Stacked plywood set. Made with scrap plywood I had around and some hardware store parts. Fairly simple to make. Cut the rings, glue them up, sand into round (the hardest step), bearing edges, lots of sanding sealer, some poly, done. Drilling the dowels was tricky. Tunes so easy, looks pretty cool, and sounds really nice. I'm not a 4 pc player. My mind tends to shut down with so few drums but, just to give you an idea on how they sound. I need a different reso head on the kick. A little too much "boom" but, I still like it. A deeper kick would be quite a monster. Although the drums are light because the basic cores of the plywood are Poplar and Aspen.
