And another great album/mixtape to go in the books from Coachella Valley emcee "Phillie Mills". The Party Mixtape was released independently & digitally in January 2010 on Sonata Orchestration. It consists of 18 bangers from start to finish with guest appearances from Misfit (Young Lord), Dumguy, Effen, Surv, Dj Ba5e, and Jack Patron. Although ive known Phillie about 5 years ive been listening to his music about 7/8 years now and am not surprised to see that he is indeed still coming off very proper. From the word play & flow to the emotional life refrences, not to mention the in your face/raw metaphors to the highly clever similes such as "Shady like dark lenses" and "I dont heart bitches like my heart's missing", this project and all other work by Phillie is not to be overlooked, and if it is, you should probably change that & give it a chance. No favorite track in particular since they all bring fire. Ive had the privilege to be in the studio with Phillie while lacing and he says he still needs to write a verse but yet a pen and paper is never brought out. Sitting with the beat on repeat, he jumps in the booth an hour later with a verse ready to go. If you didnt catch that, this cat doesnt write! Impressive & very inducing! You can catch his work also with fellow friends "Undiscovered Poets" and be sure and pick up a copy of his 2007 solo release "Speak of the Devil" which to me is a 760 classic. If you're in the need of a change in music, heres your answer. Here is the link for the Party Mixtape, and its FREE so download it people! 760 Desert Empire-Desert Ez!
