PHIL HARE - CELTIC MEDLEY - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 24, 2008
DESCRIPTION:
Phil says: This is my collective interpretation of three Celtic tunes: 'Planxty Irwin' is a well-known O'Carolan harp tune from Co. Meath, Ireland, whilst the two reels that follow are 'Miss McLeods Reel - a tune of Scottish origin, much loved by Ceilidh bands everywhere - and 'McGough's Farewell', which is the shards of a (unknown) reel learnt by osmosis, conjoined with a B-part that I made up myself, and wholly titled as a tribute to good friend and former band colleague Dave McGough, who left Birkenhead, Merseyside to live in Waterford, Ireland back in the '90's. Here the guitar is tuned CGDGAD which allows you to move between three keys, and has voicings not dissimilar to a harp.
