MY CD's - INTRO & SECCUNDO

After finding we had a mutual taste in music, we decided to make an album featuring some old classic songs arranged in the band's own style. The recording took place in the mountains of Macedonia close to the Bulgarian border. Although the engineer had not recorded that type of music before his classical voice and piano training allowed him to visualise exactly what we wanted.

The band laid down the backing tracks and then Katerina and me put the vocals over the top live, so as to keep it fresh and immediate as jazz should be. The vocals were completed in four long sessions aided by the necessary local spirit Rakia. The result was fairly good and the album was played extensively on radio. This resulted in us being approached to appear on a TV special which featured the whole album. Subsequently this was seen on TV on a number of occasions.

Seccundo was a different affair and a quantum leap from Intro. Firstly our engineer had 'got into' the genre and not only written some arrangements but new tunes as well, while adding his own instrumental ability to the mix. This album is a mix of new and exciting arrangements of classic songs with the freshness of the new numbers we put together. Katerina's amazing voice and the bands incredible talent are a positive showcase. I even sang better on this album.

The Band's talent is without question. Katerina's incredible voice was a pleasure for me to sing with. She has such a rrange and can adapt her vocal talent to any type of song. Goce (sax) has to be one of the top players in Europe. When the late Ray Charles came to the Skopje Jazz Festival he asked for Goce to play with him and gave him a standing ovation. Zoran (guitar)played in jazz clubs in Paris for many years and you can hear his guitar talk. Altogether a truly professional and accomplished group of musicians.

I must also thank my talented daughter in law Katherine, for her inspired artwork on both albums. Also Digiplus Malta for their excellent final production. If you are interested in hearing the albums copies are available at the bar.
