DESCRIPTION: Here is Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys from 1941. The Band features: Bill Monroe on mandolin and lead vocals, Pete Pyle on guitar and singing bass, Art Wooten singing baritone, and Cousin Bill Westbrooks singing tenor. This is an unusual arrangement of the Bluegrass Quartet, because most of the time Bill was the tenor singer and the guitar player sang the lead part on the gospel numbers. Here is a picture that corrolates with the recording from 1941, (l to r) Art Wooten, Bill Monroe, Bill Westbrooks, and Pete Pyle.
