DESCRIPTION:
Mazin Blaik's Percussion Supplement includes the following:

1. A collaboration between poet Suheir Hammad and myself playing Arab percussion over the maqsum rhythm (I am the percussionist on the right). Accompanying me on daf is my younger brother Jad Blaik.

2. Continuing on the same tempo, an improvisation on the tableh and daf, at the same time, over the malfouf rhythm.

3. A solo performance on tableh, accompanied by Master Percussionist Hafez El Ali Kotain and Jad Blaik. Rhythms include: masmoudi, baladi, malfouf, and karachi.

4. A demonstration of classical Arab rhythms on the riq: baladi, laf, masmoudi, and a ¾ waltz rhythm.
