P.Dukes

1997 proved to be a good year in Atlanta. Crime around the city was at a low, The Atlanta Braves found a new home at Turner Field, and Outkast was putting College Park, Ga. on the map with their second LP, ATLiens. Just down interstate 20 at Six Flags over Georgia, Jerrold “Jae Paul Ghetty” and William Phillip Dukes were entertaining a group of their peers at a Make Your Own Video kiosk, not knowing that their random meeting would later turn into a hip hop collaboration worthy of a Dungeon Family comparison. By 2000, Countree Noise was born, consisting of emcees and producers who made gritty street tales over smooth southern beats.

After many successful mixtapes and a debut album, Ten the Hard Way, P. Dukes is making a name for himself. His mix of raw lyricism and clever wordplay proved him far ready to hold his own on his first mixtape, On Probation, which features Fiend of No Limit, Hypnotized Camp’s T-Rock, and Purple Ribbon’s own Konkrete. He dropped Easy Money October 2006, with the infectious single “Painin Da Block”, that featured production from Chris Flame, Sidestreet of Countree Noise, M.A.J, and WILDbeats.

This past May, P. Dukes was a member of the Auburn University class of 2006 with a Political Science/Pre-Law degree. Currently, he’s working on the follow up to DJ Scream/DJ Burn One’s Gorilla in the Streets mixtape and Countree Noise’s My Block 2: Southside, with help from producers Mook da Great and Structure Music. You can catch him now on DJ Scream’s Heavy in the Streets: Hot 107.9 Birthday Bash mixtape.
