ATL’s DJ Burn One is a name that has become synonymous with quality. Whether for his career behind the boards as a critically acclaimed producer, behind the decks as a mixtape and tour DJ, or behind the scenes as a country rap tune ambassador, industry tastemaker, street album host and music consultant, Burn One’s achievements in the recording industry at only 24 are testament to his dedication, passion and gift.
Burn One has produced tracks for some of the south and mid-west’s most respected artists – from former Interscope and current digital icon, Gary, Indiana’s finest Freddie Gibbs’ Do Wrong to recent Warner signee, Mr ‘Trap Goin Ham’ Pill’s ‘Coastin’, his catalogue is thick. Burn also laid down Alley Boy’s ‘Dis Is’, Young Buck’s ‘Bury Me Alive’ and countless tracks for Birmingham’s KD (Soul Inn / Dai & Nite / Back On Me ft. Pill / Why Iz U Lyin / Love Me Back / Alwaiz Be). He was closely involved in the Pitchfork championed Huntsville International project from G-Side also, producing critic favourite My Aura and the melancholy Paradise.
Projects with Gucci Mane (Chicken Talk), Bohagon (Future Legends), Young Dro (I Still Got That Dro (Future Legends pt. 2)) and Big Kuntry King (Cocaine) are only a small selection of the mixtapes he built his reputation on. But one of Burn One’s biggest accomplishments to date, and the reason why he’s considered by anyone in the know to be one of the south’s key tastemakers, are his artist-focused street albums, which include the highly regarded Starlito’s Renaissance Gangster, modern country rap classic G-Mane’s Sunday On Da Porch, which he produced entirely, and most crucially Yelawolf’s groundbreaking, trunk-rattling and record contract deal-sealing Trunk Muzik, which lead to a golden handshake from Jimmy Iovine for the coolest skateboarder on the planet, and a tour deal for Burn One as he backed up both Yelawolf and Wiz Khalifa on their 16-city Deal Or No Deal showcase. He also spent two years touring with Bubba Sparxxx during the ‘Ms New Booty’ days.
If his career stopped here Burn One would already go down as one of the greats. A deeply respected ambassador for southern hip-hop and legend in the game.
