We all felt “Episodes” to be an apt title for Empatia’s second C.D. Not only does it represent the next episode in the trio’s musical development but each tune itself represents a particular “episode” in the musical language we draw upon, where we constantly strive to cross and blur the boundaries between the classical South American repertoire and unusual Blue Note-era jazz pieces; where we mix the traditional and the new, the delicate with the robust, the improvised with the arranged. All this is made possible by our focus on interplay. Virtuoso performance is only ever a means to an end; a way of achieving our common goal - to make great music that excites and delights without ever restricting itself with genres or labels. Enjoy!
