DESCRIPTION:
This is me, Rahul Kini, 19 years old from Bangalore, India drumming to ERRA's Pattern Interrupt, off their record Impulse!
For the first time, I thought of recording the kick drum with a separate, much more powerful microphone in order to be able to increase the volume of the original song in the background.
The result, in my opinion, was pretty awesome! There's an allround feel to the cover, without either the drums or the background track overpowering each other.
The song itself is pretty intense! The double bass patterns are extremely tricky and at 180bpm, it's very easy to go wrong.
I took three takes of this song and all three were pretty satisfctory, and decided to chose this (the third) one.
I play on a Tama Swingstar with all hardware mostly from either Tama or Mapex along with Tama Iron Cobra Power Glide double bass pedals.
