Patrice Pike, born 1970 in Fort Worth and raised in Dallas, first made her name as the frontwoman of the 1990s jam-rock outfit Little Sister (later Sister 7), which she formed with high-school friend Wayne Sutton in 1991. The band flourished during Sixth Streets Steamboat era, and Pike was afforded a jumping-off point. After the dissolution of Sister 7 late in the decade, Pike launched a sultry blues-rock cocktail in the form of Patrice Pike & the Black Box Rebellion, which spawned four albums, most notably Flat 13 (2004) and Fencing Under Fire (2002). Summer 2006, Pike put a face (and a hot, tattooed bod) to the Austin music scene when she appeared as a contestant on the CBS reality show Rock Star: Supernova, a dramatic, televised audition for the lead singer of a celebrity band comprising Tommy Lee, Jason Newsted, and Gilby Clarke. Pike released her next solo album, Unraveling in its wake. March 2007 followed with Pike sweeping the 2007 Austin Music Awards, nabbing Musician of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rock Band, Best Female Vocalist, and induction in the Music Hall of Fame.
