Cruise - Robert Ruffin and Romance (Rolyn Records 1978) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 11, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
One of the charms of the ‘little label’ releases, back in the day, were hidden in amongst a great deal of very average releases, there were some real gems. This is one of them. Robbie Vincent used to play this back in the day. He lost his copy, so, every now and then I send him a digital copy to fill in the gaps on his shelves. Released in 1978, this Bobby Franklin penned 45, shouts ‘Summer’ from the rooftops. This was Robert Ruffin’s only 45, which I picked up from John Anderson at Soul Bowl during the Eighties for a couple of quid. Sadly, the track has been hi-jacked by the ‘I’ve got it any you ‘aven’t’ brigade, creating a stupid market, which have seen prices reaching £354 on Discogs for this single these days. Thankfully, you don’t have to spend that much on the 45, as you already have a copy you can listen to anytime right here! Another piece of sheer Soul beauty, probably worth most price tags, sadly.
