ABOUT Jonathan Meyer
Jonathan always had a passion for music, and begun playing drums at the age of six in the church where his father was a protestant priest. A funky and soul man, after a long period as musician, in 2000 he debuted in House Music, with a live exhibition at the "Pasha" in Riccione.
From then on he often performed at "Tony Humphries & Friends" and in several "Cirque Du Soleil" after-shows. 2003 was a prolific year thanks to "Tribal Experience", a successful single, also remixed by Jessie Garcia and licensed by Tribal Spain Recordings. The CD exceeded 10.000 sold copies. He later published "Tribal Experience Vol. 2", remixed by Phunk Investigation, and "Tribal Experience Vol. 3". 2004 saw the official remix of Simple Minds "Alive and Kicking", on Absolutely Records.
In 2005, Jonathan went back to his funk origins, with the Chill-Out album "Tribal Funk": eleven tracks mixing pure funk, soul and tribal.
In the biennium 2006/2007 Equal Records published "Now to That I Found You", written by Barbara Tucker and sung by Dawn Tallman; "Afrique"; and "Back In The Days", sung by the legendary Sabrina Johnston.
Also, he played drums in Luis Radio..s "The Mood", edited by Season Limited. In 2008 Jonathan signed an exclusive contract as producer, drummer and dj, with "Purple Music" , one of the most important independent house labels in the world. In December of the same year played in the prestigious "Purple Night", in the Kauflauten club, Zurich, one of the most important in Switzerland.
With Purple he published in January 2009 "Sunday Light"; and in October "The Ep", that includes "U Know Me" and "Borderline". Both tracks were for several weeks in the first ten positions of Traxsource, and chosen by djs in their top-tens. He remixed "The Best Of Me" on Panevino Music. "Talking Alone" on Purple Music; a Stevie Wonder tribute and many other projects are already scheduled. Jonathan is one of the very few Italian artists totally involved with soulful and deep house, and his musical selections are a perfect equilibrium between refined sound and dance energy. For a track to get featured here on Spirit of House it must be something truly special, and without a doubt this is the case with "Mambito" by Jonathan Meyer. "Mambito" is a simple yet very effective track that will instantly catch you with its hypnotizing rhythms and killer organ solo, and the six varied versions included in the package give you plenty of choices to work the floor, and it will work in any type of set. No wonder DJ's have been beggin' Jonathan Meyer for a copy of the track ever since Tony Humphries started playing it...
