DESCRIPTION:
Gojira - Only Pain drum cover. I might just have to cover every song off of Gojira's new album Magma. I am blown away by this album. They took things in a bit of a different direction compared to L'Efant Sauvage, with a slower, groovier, more emotional approach to their music. Having listened to the drums quite closely, I can say there are a lot of interestingly placed accents, ghost notes and beautiful grooving in Mario Duplantier's drumming on this album. I am actually considering doing an album medley haha. Let me know if you'd be interested in that.

Only Pain consists mainly of double bass grooves and damn good ones at that. This band doesn't have to be overly technical to be effective. They are an incredibly cohesive group that is amazing at songwriting. That emotional bridge really hit me. This song as a whole is very introspective and dark, hence the video effect I used. This song is fucking awesome.

I initially set up a foot cam but that didn't work out for this cover. The bass drum notes aren't entirely that difficult to figure out and I don't think that cam would have even added that much. Oh well, it wasn't meant to be.
