Nel 1652 il liutista Blancrocher morì a Parigi dopo una caduta dalle scale. I suoi amici gli resero omaggio con quattro Tombeaux che rappresentano altrettante visioni della morte.

En 1652, le luthiste Blancrocher meurt à Paris après une chute dans un escalier. Ses amis décident alors de lui rendre hommage en composant quatre Tombeaux qui représentent autant de visions de la mort.

In 1652 the lutenist Blancrocher died in Paris after falling down the stairs. His friends then decided to pay him homage with four Tombeaux, each of them representing a conception of death.
