Ove Støylen, originally from Gjøvdal in Åmli municipality, has been working with country music full-time since 2003.

With two record releases and about 300 concerts on the country scene behind him, he has made a big mark with his songwriting talents and vocal performances worldwide. All released songs by this country artist are written by himself.

You can easily hear that he is heavily influenced by superstars such as Alan Jackson, George Straitt but in recent times other more modern country performers have also inspired Ove who expresses himself on the live scene and certainly also on his planned next album.

From 2004 to 2007, the classic country group The Whitenecks has backed Ove Støylen in several countries.

He has played from Barcelona in the south to Lofoten in the north and from the Faroe Islands in the west to Germany in the east.

Now he often uses 4 musicians from the band Clutterbillies as a backing band, which gives him a more messy and cheeky style that the audience seems to love.
Ove has participated in several TV2 programs and has been featured extensively in the national press and industry magazines as well as the local press.

The collaboration with Arly Karlsen and G.Thomas as The European Highwaymen has also been a great success.

Lyrics:
The Hitch-hiker
Ove Støylen
C
On a cold deserted highway
F C
Stood a man dressed in white
F C
He wore sunglasses and shiny shoes
F G
He never minded that it was night
C
I don’t know what made me stop
F C
I shivered as he climbed in
F C
His voice was clear as he said these words
G C
“You’ll never know where I’ve been”.
“Well I’ve been standing at this crossroad
Every night to wait for you
I wanted to look good
so I’d dress like you too”
I’ve seen you drive your fast car
Almost hit me many times
But finally you stopped
It’s time to tell you ‘bout your crimes
I don’t mind if you don’t know me
But please don’t put me off
I’ve been waiting for many years now
For you to turn up.
You see, I’m your only hope
If you want a daddy when life’s done
So hang on to your rope
And pray for yourself, son
You see I was your best friend
When you were young and free
But you turned the other way
As you were better than me
Oh yes you came to visit
But was it me or your memories
You wanted to spend time with
To put your consience at ease
Key of D
My shaking body stopped the car
He was gone before I knew
I never got to ask him
If he was with mummy too
I cried a river of tears
That night when no one saw
The visit of my daddy
And the resurrection of my hear #OveStøylen #CountryClassic #RonjasCountryMusic #RonjaGM
