Clearview was the first instrumental three piece power trio from the Pacific Northwest that I joined in 1973 as a teenager at the tender age of 16 years old. I juggled things around quite a bit back then but it sure was a lot of fun.

While living still at home I was working at Arnie's Auto Body, playing in the band as well as going to school at Cascade High in Everett, Washington.

Clearview's band recording's are from an old audio tape from 1979. We liked to play mostly Rush songs with a sprinkling of other high voltage tunes that seemed somewhat obtainable (for us) at the time.

John Fischer, R.I.P. (bass) and Kirby Aumick (guitar) were a few years older than I and in my mind they had total say about what works or doesn't work as well as what songs to play and yet they had never once asked me to change my style or tone it down on the drums.
These two great guitar players knew how to relax and be themselves. That meant lots of laughs which sent me the message to feel comfortable & confident. It always made me feel that "I too would be "Rippin' it up". Seems they definitely had faith in me. Thanks comrades!!!!

Now that I think about it, I was blessed with some pretty outstanding and understanding parents. Starting off way back when the parents were friends with Norma and Dusty Neely owners of the Local music store in town Carousel Music. They had a Drum & Bugle Corps back in the 1950's that they ran in correspondence with their music store. In the1960's when Mark was eight years old he found himself playing snare drum for Carousel Music's Drum & Bugle Corps and marching in the big parade!
Their support inspired me to dedicate myself to seek out as much variety as I could and practice everything that I learned. I decided way back then that this would be something I was going to do one way or another, no matter what!!!!
So, I pay them great homage. Thank you so very much to my Mom & Pop!!!!!

With the Clearview band we were able to play at my High School "Cascade" through a friend (Ron Ruth a.k.a. Ronnie G. Shumaker) at a dance for the student body. Of course our manager was caught smoking the wacky tobacky back stage which got us blacklisted and banned from ever playing another High School ever again! Great managing.. dough!!!

After which...
We'd like to play at anybody's house party as long as they took their pictures off the wall before hand!! Luckily for most we'd play outside!!!!

So, only two microphones are used in these recording's (microphones being placed on each side of the drum set) plugged into a Teac cassette deck using a Maxell music cassette tape that was in fair condition way back in 1979.

Seemingly after Clearview closed down some forty long years ago. Skepticism I find interesting. Playing mostly at parties and being young we'd be drinking too. So, naturally it was effecting our playing ability negatively. Having lost our comrade a decade ago as time catches up to all of us. Health issues start to arise putting an end to my drumming now. So, we're hoping everyone remembers to be kind.

We thank you.. peace.

A foot note..

We were all (The Clearview Band) in attendance for Rush's 1976 "Caress of Steel" concert tour at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle, Washington on Thursday, October 28th, 1976 for the sum of $6.50. Rush sounded fantastic in the Paramount, great acoustics, and simply put, it was just really an awesome show! The memory I have of this concert is the unique way Neil Pert was alternating his hands spinning his drum sticks. Then at one point, was the way he had held them, making it look like two airplane propellers spinning together facing the audience! He controlled the speed of the rotation of the sticks varying it (synchronized) to match the parts in the song from (fast to slow) and then back again all perfectly (synchronized) while including to play both bass drums!!! What? I was totally amazed but mostly, I'll never forget it! I thought (with a laugh and a smile). There... I just got my $6.50 worth's out of that show!!! l.o.l.

Thank you so much Neil Peart! That was way over the top "Awesome"...

That is just one of the reasons we called you.. "The Professor"
