DESCRIPTION:
Osman Martins werd in 1961 in de staat Bahia in Brazilië geboren, hij verhuisde als kind naar São Paulo en hield zich toen al met muziek bezig. Ter gelegenheid van zijn 10e verjaardag kreeg hij een "cavaquinho" (instrument van Portugese origine, familie van de gitaar) en raakte meteen bezeten door het instrument. Wat later volgde hij lessen bij Maestro Robinson Miguel, een befaamd Braziliaans gitarist.

Op een dag hoorde hij Irio de Paula, ex-gitarist van Elze Soares, spelen en raakt in de ban van de gitaar. Daarop wijdde hij zich volledig aan dit instrument, nieuwe harmonische en melodische horizonten ontdekkend, wat een extra dimensie gaf aan zijn cavaquinho-spel. Na de cavaquinho, de gitaar, het componeren en de percussie, daagde hij zijn stem uit en besliste hij een tijdje zangcursus te volgen. Hij sloeg meteen een nieuwe weg in, dit keer als zanger. De rest is geschiedenis.

Gelukkig voor ons woont Osman Martins intussen al jaren in Brussel, geeft hij sinds dit jaar les bij Muziekpublique en ontpopte hij zich toch één van de interessantste Braziliaanse muzikanten in ons land met groepen als Parceria, Samba de Candeia,...

Osman Martins, maître de la tradition musicale brésilienne, joue du cavaquinho, de la guitare six cordes, chante et joue différents types de percussions.
Très tôt, Osman s'intéresse à la musique et entre deux parties de football, il regarde les musiciens jouer dans la rue et se fascine particulièrement pour le « cavaquinho », petite guitare brésilienne.

L'objet de ses rêves lui est offert le jour de son dixième anniversaire, et dès ce moment là, il en jouera chaque jour. A quinze ans, Osman s'inscrit à l'école Curson et prend des cours de « cavaquinho » avec le Maestro Robson Miguel, guitariste très réputé au Brésil. A la fin de son cursus, il décroche le diplôme avec grande distinction. Suite à cette formation, Osman s'affirme et est reconnu comme l'un des meilleurs joueurs de la "petite guitare" de São Paulo.En Belgique, Osman collectionne les grandes scène (Molière, Marni, Couleur Café, Esperanzah, Monde est un Village...) et les collaborations renommées de qualité (Toots Thielemans, Pierre Gillet, Maxime Blésin, Steve Houben, Renato Martins, Matt Bianco, Bai Kamara Jr...)

Born in Bahia (Brasil) at the beginning of the sixties Osman Martins moved to Sao Paolo and became involved with music at a young age. When he turned 10 years old he got a "cavaquinho"(snare instrument of Portuguese origin) as a gift and has never put it down ever since. He got the opportunity to learn from the famous Maestro Robinson Miguel and became inspired by the guitar when he heard Irio de Paula play (ex-guitarist Elze Soares) He decides to fully concentrate himself on mastering his guitar skills on melodic and harmonious level that will give an extra dimension to the cavaquinho, which remains his main instrument. After a while he decides to take on another challenge and Martins begins to train his voice. Having followed several vocal trainings he developed himself into the artist as we currently know him: one of Belgian's finest Brazilian musicians. Besides teaching Osman Martins is a part of several music projects such as Parceria and Samba de Candeia.
