Sabin Markov
(1935 - 1993)

Bulgarian baritone was born on 28 April 1935 in Sofia. He began his musical studies playing the violin. Later he studied voice with Ilija Jossifov at the State Academy of Music. He became a member of the Sofia National Opera with his debut as Rigoletto in 1964.
International appearances took him to Vienna, Salzburg, Berlin, South America, Cuba and Switzerland. Later in his life he became professor of voice at the State Academy of Music.
Major roles in his career were Renato, Rigoletto, Prince Igor, Gerard, Onegin, Yeletsky, Tonio, Count di Luna, and Rodrigo in Don Carlo.
