Pearl's unique expression has instantly attracted a solid fan base across regions resulting in an average of over three hundred and fifty shows in the past four years alone. Born January 12, 1982, her sultry mood induces vivid thoughts of love, life, and passion. This San Diego, California natives' musical background extends from her father's Trio and Bolero influence, which include artists such as Los Tres Reyes, Los Tres Ases, Los Panchos, Javier Solis, Rocio Durcal, and Juan Gabriel, to her own Soul and R&B/Hip-Hop inspirations, Etta James, Lauryn Hill, Tupac, and TLC. Pearl's originality and self-developed style has created a platform where fans of all ages and genres of music have instantly developed a love for her incredible lyrics and captivating, powerful voice.
At the age of 14, she began recording with her brother, who is one of the west coasts' hottest underground music producers, Fernando "Nandogg" Ayon, CEO of H2K Productions, an indie music and recording label. He is responsible for the production on albums of some of the west coasts' top underground Hip-Hop artists to more well-known established artists like Mr. Shadow, Slush the Villain, Boogie the Big Man, Lil' One, Dyablo, MC Magic, NB Ridaz, Yukmouth, E-40, and Kurupt, just to name a few. Pearl's featured on most of these artists' music singing hooks she wrote.
After years of developing her style and being unable to place herself in any one category, she created a whole new genre of music for herself and is now introduced as the First Lady of Latin Soul R&B. She dropped her first album in 2006, "Can You Feel It," which is mostly an autobiographical love story, making her remake of "Darling Baby" by The Elgins, with a feature by MC Magic, her first single. She has nationally syndicated success with the long-time running radio show "Pocos Pero Locos." "We had never played Pearl before or even talked about her, and the audience responded instantly," said Edward "E-Dubb" Rios, one of the producers of the 10-year-old show. "It's very rare we have an unknown artist who people respond to so fast."
Despite this success, she was able to take a step back and observe with an outsiders' perspective the direction in which her music was heading. "It's an evolution process. Sometimes you just need to take some time and reflect on reality and what your next move is going to be. There needs to be room for reinvention if necessary," explained Pearl during an interview with George Varga of the San Diego Union Tribune. This self-reflection and road to self discovery had placed her exactly in the path she was born to follow.
With over 300 songs she has written and over 350 live performances under her belt, which include her winning performance of the Karaoke Entertainer of the Year for San Diego County and others in San Diego - 4th & B, Harrah's Rincon Casino, Croce's Jazz Bar, countless coffee shops and bars throughout, cruise lines, and city and private events, also in Riverside, Los Angeles, at the Nuyorican Cafe in New York City, and at the Bunker House in Las Vegas, she has paid her dues and overcome plenty of obstacles in this tricky business of music. Educated in this type of business has prepared her to face and overcome any level of adversity. Currently she is the studio preparing to re-release her first album due to be out in March 2010 with Universal distribution and international promotion.
