NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Philips 40375) Out of New York, this surprising pairing of popular big band vocalist, Kitty Kallen with big shot record producer, Bob Crewe would ultimately, be the last recording that Ms. Kallen would make.
Recorded at Mirasound Studios in the spring of 1966, the tune, 'One Grain Of Sand' which was written by Bob Crewe along with Russell Brown and Raymond Bloodworth, is given a fantastic, dramatic arrangement by Herb Bernstein. What makes this production all the more marvelous are the beautiful background vocals of Peggy Santiglia, Bernadette Carroll and Denise Ferri. These ladies had come together as a merging of three different groups; The Delicates, The Starlets and The Angels. Peggy, Bernadette and Denise would continue to sing in various group combinations and as background vocalists for other artists throughout the 1960's and 1970's. Another example of their distinctive background vocals can be heard on Lou Christie's 'Lightnin' Strikes'.
