BROS - "Tell Me" & "Brazil" & "Flight 714" (Stiegl Hidden Studio Sessions) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 22, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
After moving from Saskatoon to Toronto in 2014, brothers Ewan and Shamus Currie found themselves with some downtime from their main gig as the frontman and keyboardist (respectively) in the platinum-selling band The Sheepdogs.

The aptly named project BROS was started as a way for the two to work on songs that reflected a lot of their traditional pop and funk influences that don’t fit within the framework of The Sheepdogs more straight-ahead rock sound. Citing bands like Sly & The Family Stone, Badgfinger, Beach Boys, Hall & Oates, and dropping references in their lyrics to the Brazilian psychedelic rock band Os Mutantes, it’s clear that the Currie brothers are deeply entrenched in music history.

“We have a lot more diverse tastes than just rock,” explained Ewan Currie, “and we love vocal harmonies, and songs that are densely arranged and built up with all kinds of instruments in the studio. So I think this project was a chance to indulge some of those whims.”

Their ten song debut album Vol. 1 was released just this past fall. They visited the Stiegl Hidden Studio with a full band complete with horns, percussion and keyboards, to play some tunes from the record.
