Man Parrish - Hey There Home Boys [Dub] Electro Hip Hop #
Man Parrish (born Manuel Joseph Parrish, May 6, 1958) is an American composer, songwriter, vocalist and producer. He, along with artists such as Kraftwerk, Art of Noise, Arthur Baker, Afrika Bambaataa, John Robie, Jellybean Benitez and Aldo Marin helped create and define the sound of B-Boy electro of the early 1980s. He became an underground music scene icon in the 1980s and 1990s and is one of the most important and influential figures in American electronic dance music.
A native New Yorker, Parrish was a member of the extended family that converged nightly at Studio 54. His nickname, Man, first appeared in Andy Warhol's Interview magazine, and his early live shows at Bronx hip-hop clubs were spectacles of lights, glitter, and pyrotechnics, which drew as much from the Warhol mystique as the Cold Crush Brothers. He pioneered a form of electro-hip-hop that dominated the post Disco, pre-House Music club scene of the early eighties and was a primary influence on the subsequent genres of House and Techno Music.

His premier release was "Hip Hop, Be Bop (Don't Stop)," released in 1982. He eventually signed with Elektra Records but was dropped from the label in 1984 when it decided not to release the album he had recorded for it.

When Parrish was first breaking, hip-hop was still dominated by African Americans and white performers were often considered interlopers. Whether because of this fact or his preference for theatricality, when Parrish appeared onstage he was often heavily made up and wore fanciful outfits that made it impossible to determine his ancestry at a glance. "Hip Hop, Bebop (Don't Stop)" was as much a hit with black audiences as white. At one memorable performance at Studio 54, in a pause in "Hip Hop, Be Bop," a young African American audience member close to the stage shouted out in amazement, "Holy s**t, Man Parrish is a white Boy!"[citation needed]

Parrish currently lives in New York City and is managed by X-Rated Management in the UK. He is on Pink Biscuit Records and is set to release tracks on that label. He will also be releasing a new record via Southern Fried Records, the label owned by Fatboy Slim.
