Finally I was able to get on and post this! i'm well aware i'm over my own deadline but honestly, I think it's better for everyone if a "deadline" means more so when you're allowed to post instead of required to post. The song was actually done on time but I had forgot my mother's birthday and ended up spending the whole day with her (It was actually really fun ^_^). Today however, I was making the picture and my new icon when my job called me in and I didn't get off until late. Dx

---NEWCOMERS---
Pass the Melody is a game I invented where a "Distributor" writes out a short melody and passes it to the "Players" to which they compose a song based off a very simple melody/midi. The Distributor is under a strict set of guidelines which forces the Players to think creatively. One of these guidelines prevents the Distributors from composing along side the players which is why this is #2 (for me at least) instead of #1. The distributor (or I guess anyone who cares at this point) makes a Playlist on their channel showcasing everyone's final compositions. I know this is only the second round but I'm really loving this game and I encourage anyone of ANY musical background to join the fun! You never know what kind of compositions you'll get. xD

---CURRENT PARTICIPANTS---
This song went through a lot of changes but I was unable to properly mix due to time restrictions on my end so sorry If it clips a bit. Anyway, Odd Man Out is what I want to call this pieces because it's un-predictable at certain parts especially the Bass instrument which is actually a Bass Steel Drum Pan instead of a traditional Acoustic Bass.

The first thing I noticed about the melody is it's use of the Tonic and Mediant (the 1st and 3rd degree of a scale) which greatly implies that the melody is designed for a traditional major scale. That little scale fall from the C to G along with the E natural didn't help in proving me wrong (lol). Anyway, I wanted to be creative by turning the melody into a Minor-like nature so I played around with it and discovered the groove you hear after the into (I was able to do this by analyzing the intervals/rhythm and distorting it). Believe it or not, that groove plays really well on Piano. :D The intro part and the Motif I choose along with the song is actually form another song I tried to write but ended up failing but to my surprise, they mixed really well so I ran with it throughout the song. The biggest thing however, is my use of solo instruments. I found some nice jazzy chords for this! XD It was VERY fun soloing on this piece by changing the chords but I knew I had to go back to the melody again so I decided to mix it up a lot.

That brings me to something I wanted to tell you guys. Don't be scared to really get down and experiment with the melody you receive. This isn't really a issue (just trying not to make it one for future players) and i'm really NOT trying to imply anything but thus far, i've notice that some of you stay very true to the original structure/interval of the melody. By trying to defy what you're given is how you grow musically and helps you really let loose in your creativity. That's really the core element of this game. Plus, it keeps this game from getting boarding after a while. xD

Another thing, look at the very bottom of this block and you should see something like [Category: Music]. Some of you have this Category set to something other than that when you post music. I believe this affect how people find your videos (theory) so It might help increase your views if you switch that over to music. You can change it by going to Video Manager, Info and Settings (on the video in question), then Advance settings.
