It's Notion, baby!
MC. Engineer. Producer. Multimedia guy. Ideas man. Damn, what more do y'all want?
Relentless with this effortless passion….
The quadruple threat package that Notion possesses is an unquestionable asset to The Movement Fam. Whether it's poring over a seemingly never ending supply of rhymes, spending damn near every night in the studio perfecting his engineering skills, crafting beats on a quest to find his sound, or knocking out design work on demand, Nosh (as he's known to the crew) is a busy man.
With two solo mixtapes (2006's It's My Turn… and 2008's World Domi-NoTiOn) under his belt, along with engineering and Executive Producing a gang of projects from The Movement Fam (including the Valentine's Day series, two volumes of Cee & Bekah's The Soul Movement mixtapes, a collaborative project with Melbourne MC TruStylz, and dozens of collaborations with artists all over the globe), Notion's discography just keeps growing.
In March 2009, Notion, along with Cee & Bekah and Tommy Gunnz, were signed by respected blogger Kevin Nottingham to his brand new label, HiPNOTT Records, based out of Miami, FL. This move essentially cements The Movement Fam as viable members of the international Hip Hop community, being the only non-American artists on the label, and giving all of their releases a stamp of authority not usually associated with Australian Hip Hop/Soul artists.
2010 sees the release of his third and final solo mixtape, On The Corner of Notion & 9th: A Tribute To 9th Wonder, a collection of old songs and even more new cuts entirely over Mr. Douthitt's production, resulting in a solid and heartfelt tribute to one of the greatest beatsmiths of our time. The tape is cosigned by none other than Skyzoo, a good friend and colleague of 9th's, adding an almost tangible element of authenticity to the project.
With The Movement Fam's imminent relocation to Toronto, Canada on the horizon, it was only fitting to get in one last mixtape before he jets, giving the Canadians yet another reason to pay attention to this talented collection of artists. And it's not only The Fam who believe in the potential of Notion's music - this mixtape is co-presented by highly respected blogs Hip Hop Update.com and Kevin Nottingham.com, and even Seattle-based clothing line Peoples Republic of Clothing jumped on board to bring this mixtape to the people.
Notion has also been hard at work on his as-yet-untitled debut album, collating production from some very familiar names and demonstrating a level of depth and maturity on the project that had yet to be seen from the MC. After his successful run of mixtapes, Nosh is excited to give the people an entirely original project, entrenching his brand of soulful Hip Hop in the worldwide scene.
So the raps don't stop; the beats won't quit; the mixing can't chill; the projects never cease. Notion ain't going anywhere except to work. It's official. The Movement is here. Get the The Movement Fam Widget
