"Ger Wolfe's songs always raise my spirits" Christy Moore

"The poetic soul of Ireland" John Spillane

"Sure-footed and astute" Folk Roots Magazine

"Rises high above the homogenized sound-wall that passes for pop radio lately" The Irish Times

Cork singer-songwriter Ger Wolfe has worked hard at earning his reputation as one of Ireland's most unique contemporary singer-songwriters.He is currently working with musicians Martin Leahy and Shane Scanlan, recording an exciting new album with the working title of 'The New October Daughter' , due for release in the Autumn.

Since 1998 he has released six albums of original music on the independent 'RAGGEDY RECORDS' - "Word and Rhyme" (1998), "Ragged Ground"(2000), "Heaven Paints her Holy Mantle Blue"(2004), "The Velvet Earth" (2006) , "No Bird Sang"(2009) and "Fréamh; Root" (2011).

With a singular approach to his craft he has charmed many listeners with songs such as 'The Lark of Mayfield' and 'The Curra Road'. His songs have been recorded by North Cregg ('Summer at my feet' sung by Fiona Kelleher is the title track of their third album), by Karan Casey (Curra Road) and by Mike Mc Goldrick with Sharon Shannon, among others.

Ger's work in music is the subject of a specially commissioned radio documentary for the RTE Radio 1 'Doc on 1' series. The show features well known figures from the Irish music world including Christy Moore, John Spillane and John Creedon, among others giving their opinion of Ger's work. The show is still available as a podcast from the RTE Radio 1 website.

In Spring 2011 Ger released his sixth C.D. "Fréamh; Root" which is bi-lingual and contains new songs and traditional tunes Ger composed as part of a project in Spring 2009 (ó Béal guth Bhéal) where he worked in the Múscraí Gaeltacht (Irish speaking) area of Cork, gathering anecdotes and stories from older people in the community as material for new songs.

This album manages to capture something very special about the lives of the older generations and another era in Irish life, featuring excellent arrangements from the previously mentioned quartet of musician's and also special guest Fiona Kelleher (vocals), each adding their own musical magic to this beautiful recording.

Bhí an c.d. seo déanta le táchaíocht ó bhForas na Gaeilge. The album was produced by Raggedy Records with the support of Foras na Gaeilge.
