Norbert Stein PATA POETRY ORCHESTRA (short video version) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Apr 19, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Short version of PATA POETRY live at Stadtgarten, Cologne.
Supported by Kunststiftung NRW and by the Departure of Art and Culture of the City of Cologne.

With the excellently cast large ensemble PATA POETRY ORCHESTRA, composer and saxophonist Norbert Stein opens a new chapter of his orchestral music:
Texts, sound sculptures, sound worlds, orchestral movements and exciting space for improvisers create contemporary music which not only rises from the modern sound language of New Music but also expresses the power and the spiritual depth of improvised music and jazz to a large degree.

Many years of work in the field of contemporary orchestral music, a fascination with how present-day compositional languages have evolved and the opportunity to engage with non-European cultures in concert tours facilitated by the Goethe Institute have enabled the composer Norbert Stein to develop a distinctive musical sign language for larger ensembles.

PATA POETRY lets listeners experience the wide expressive spectrum of modern orchestral music and demonstrates the creative vitality the art of improvisation lends to music for a large ensemble.
