No Middle Ground began in 2002 when Mike Burns and Jeff Bower entered a song in the annual Christian Artist Talent Search sponsored by the Inspiration Network and Daywind Music. When the two were selected to compete in the West Coast finals, they had to quickly form a band in order to participate. After winning the West Coast region, they went on to perform in a nationally televised artist showcase at INSP Studios in Charlotte, North Carolina.

In 2003 and 2004, the newly formed band produced two demos at Painted Sky Studios with Steve Crimmel (Lionel Ritchie) as well as placing second in two more national talent searches. Toward the end of 2004, No Middle Ground signed what would be a brief recording and management contract with Elephantman Music, a small record label based in Los Angeles. The two entities parted ways on good terms prior to the completion of No Middle Ground’s debut album, which was independently released in January 2005.

This first album received interest and praise from several A&R reps and radio promoters, but never fully launched the band as hoped. The album was mixed by Grammy winning engineer Nathan Dantzler (Audio Adrenaline, Tree63) and mastered by Tom Baker (Hoobastank, P.O.D.) of Precision Mastering in Hollywood, CA.

No Middle Ground toured extensively in 2006 and 2007, booking over 200 shows on three different tours around the United States with artists including Todd Agnew, Shawn McDonald, Paul Wright, Everyday Sunday, Kids in the Way, Storyside B, Alabaster Box, Christafari, Olivia the Band, and dozens of others. The band also performed in a new artist showcase at the Gospel Music Awards Week in Nashville, TN as well as Joshua Fest, Tom Fest, and Creation Fest.

For the past year, No Middle Ground has been working on new material to be released on their 2008 I’ll Be Waiting EP, mixed again by Nathan Dantlzer. The title track has already won critical acclaim, receiving the best pop song award at this year’s Songwriter Showcase at Mount Herman, CA. Look for No Middle Ground in a city near you!
